PostSubject: Rex (I Just Rescued Him To Day) :( WARNING GRAPHIC)   Tue Aug 03, 2010 4:06 pm

Ok long story I took in an Iguana today. Last night a well I don't know what to call her she was a friend but then just ignored me for a time and is now talking with me again. I call her a Bad weather friend when things are going wrong in her life she's your best friend. But when they are going good she just plain mean. Anyways she text me last night and told me she took in a iguana about 3-4 months ago and that it's been going bezerk. It's rubbed its face raw so she put him in the bathroom. I was thinking ok maybe a little face rub you know not that bad. She made it sound not that bad. At first she wanted a fee of 50.00 for him. I thought about it and told her to send me pics of him first. After I got the pics its apparent she don't know what she's doing with reptiles at all. How someone can just stand by and let him do this to his self is just wrong in so many ways. On top of it all she's suppose to be taking classes to be a reptile vet?? I took one look at him and told her I'd take him but wouldn't pay a fee for him. She then went off on me and stopped talking to me. This was last night. This after noon she text me and told me to come get him. Well I have him now. And he has an appointment for the vet Friday at 3:45 pm. He's still a sweet heart. He has full rome of my reptile room and the house if he wants. I'm pretty sure he's staying. I'm his 5th home that I know of. He's calmed down A LOT since he's came home with me. He follows me everywhere. But I don't mind! At least he's here and not there.

That will need vet care asap for antibiotics. Looks like face rubbing trying to get out and never cared for which turned into much more.

Im not a iggy person but keep everything clean and sterile. And get to vet tomorrow

Do not apply anything on that as its a open wound. Wait till the vet prescribes something. Most neo and others similar say to never put on open wounds.

ouch poor guy. have you noticed if he is still rubbing? I would try to put some kind of bite collar on him that is so big he cant rub it at all. but then you would probably have to feed him by hand

I've an appointment for Rex at 12.00 to the vet today. I had to hand feed him last night. He welcomed the food but since his mouth hurt so bad he had trouble getting it past the wounds. i gave him a bath and took a cotton swab and warm water and lightly wiped off the blood and puss gunk. He seem to like that as i bet it was soothing put it looked like it itched as well. He's just a sweet guy all the way around.

Yeah sorry just getting back had a lot going on yesterday and be for you know it was bed time.

They gave him a shot to fight infection and send me home with medicated cream to put on his nose and mouth after it starts to heal some. Right now warm baths and making sure the open wounds are clean. I'll have to hand feed him for a while. The vet said if the places on the side of his mouth where the skin is pealed back don't dry up and fall off then I have to bring him back a 2nd time to have them removed and maybe even stitches. On top of everything else he had a URI we didn't know about. The vet did say he'll heal but it'll take time and a lot of baths and cleaning out the infected parts and praying. His mouth and nose will never be the same.

I really wanted to call the lady up or go see her face to face again and give her a peace of my mind. She kept telling me she called the vet and he was just fine. Just put neosporin on his face and that he didn't need a vet visit. I bet it's because she knew she be in trouble. I gave the vet her info. He's relaying it to the animal control here and what they do with it is anyone guess. But I hope something is done soon about her.

OMG! Just now seeing this...That POOR, POOR Iggy! I am SO glad that he is now in your care. Good Luck with him- It`s going to be a long haul getting him well again. Did the Vet mention Calcium deficiency? The way his lips are pulled back, it kinda looks like that to Me. But, It could just be the rubbing. Anyway- SO happy he is now with You! Keep us updated.
