i have a 2010 male bp that has just all of a sudden started hissing at me every time I go to pick him up. He does not strike. He is a very aggressive feeder also. Will he out grow this attitude that he has been dislpaying? I understand that some snakes are just going to be hissy and have an attitude no matter what. This snake did not hiss at me when I first brought him home.

babies are always a bit fussy. They do grow out of it and its nothing to be alarmed about. Just pick him up and hell figure it out soon.

I am very happy to report that the little guy has gotten over his attitude problem. I took him out today to clean his enclosure and he didn't hiss or strike.

I explain it to people like this...... Are the bitey/aggressive? No, I have notice through hatching a bunch of babies this yr that when they first hatch up untill say about 150 grams they are very shy and hide when you stick your hand in between say 2-300 grams they become like teenagers very mouthy and vocal but once that stage passes they are back to the normal shy bp (usually anyways)

i have a ball thats well moody. ive goten in the habit after being bit a few times to read her attatude. over time i can tell if she is agressive or just hissing to tell me she really doesnt like to be handled. watch his body language. does he his and tuck his head under his body? or does he his and watch your every move a? if he tucks his head he saying i dont like this. if he watches your every motion with his neck curled he is agressive. over time he will grow out of this. just to give you a confort. thay dont hurt when thay bite anny more than a pin prick. for most the shock of getting bit is the worst. the omg it bit me. but with reptiles your gonna get bit there not like a dog thay dont love you. thay just put up with you.

None of the babies that we hatched out here this year have had a "hissy" stage- We`ve handled them constantly. BUT, My Butter (same age- from another Breeder) can be hissy at times. I think it`s WAY cute because he really thinks He can scare me off of picking him up...LOL
